Self-identity is often an internalized version of social stereotypes imposed on an individual. Like being trapped in a box, like a “perfect” mold that others built for you, that strips you of your own persona and confines you by the definition that society prefers. As the girl in the figure is put on display, with an arrangement of objects surrounding her, defining who she is. She wears no clothes, shows no facial expression, completely deprived of her own character, only exists as a blank canvas for others to render to their preferences. Hands pushed against the glass, she is struggling to escape from her incarceration in this transparent case, forever trapped in this dehumanizing position.
