Inspired by traditional Japanese pottery—Kintsugi, stands for “repairing with gold”. When a ceramic is cracked or shattered, potters bring the pieces back together by using liquid gold as an adhesive. Rather than covering the cracks or throwing the broken pottery away, this method of repair enhances the “flaws”. These damages and cracks are a part of our history, and they form a part of our identity. No Kintsugi bowls are the same, just as no one went through the same difficulties. That is what makes us unique. Rather than lamenting over a shattered bowl, we should imagine how extraordinary it will be when it is repaired.
